Who we are
World of Empires III is developed and published by Bruno Fargnoli, an independent developer publishing as NewSoftVision (“we”, “us”). He is responsible for the personal information described in this policy, as its “controller” under data protection law.
You can reach us at info@newsoftvision.com.
What this policy covers
This policy applies to:
- The game World of Empires III on Android and iOS, including solo games played on your device.
- Our online services: player accounts, online matches against other players, saved games kept on our servers, rankings, and any in-game messages.
- This website, covered in more detail in This website.
Google Play and the App Store, where you download the game and make any purchases, are run by Google and Apple under their own privacy policies.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the game and its online services. Most of it comes from you or from your device when you play online.
What stays on your device
Solo games played offline are saved only on your device, together with your settings (language, graphics quality, sound volume). None of it is sent to us. Uninstalling the game deletes it.
What we never collect
The game does not access your precise location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
How we use it
- To create and run your account and keep your online games in sync across your devices.
- To run online matches: match you with other players, deliver each turn, and show results and rankings.
- To keep play fair and safe: detect cheating and abuse, moderate messages and act on reports.
- To fix bugs, balance the game and improve it, mostly from combined statistics that do not identify you.
- To answer your questions and send you important notices about the game or your account.
- To meet our legal obligations and defend our rights.
We will only send you news or offers by email if you have agreed to it, and you can stop them at any time.
Legal bases
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases:
- Our contract with you, to provide the game, your account and online play.
- Our legitimate interests, to keep the game secure and fair, fix problems and improve it, always weighed against your rights.
- Your consent, for optional things such as news by email. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Legal obligations, for example keeping purchase records or answering lawful requests.
Where it is stored
Our servers and service providers may be located outside your country. When your information leaves the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we protect it with safeguards recognised by law, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Account, games and rankings: as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise this information within 30 days.
- Messages and reports: up to 12 months, or longer if needed to handle a report or a dispute.
- Connection and crash data: up to 90 days.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Combined statistics that no longer identify you may be kept longer.
Security
The game talks to our servers over encrypted connections, and access to player information is limited to the people who need it to run the game. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you and the authorities about a breach when the law requires it.
Children
Online play is not intended for children under 13. Where local law sets a higher age to agree to the use of personal data (up to 16 in some European countries), younger players need the consent of a parent or guardian. If we learn that we hold a child’s information without that consent, we delete it. Parents can contact us at any time.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your information, in a format you can reuse;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- delete it, including your whole account;
- stop or limit certain uses of it, or object to them;
- withdraw a consent you gave us.
You can delete your account from the game’s settings or by writing to us. We answer requests within one month and may ask you to prove the account is yours. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
You can play solo games offline without an account at all.
This website
- No cookies, no tracking. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising tools.
- Fonts. The site’s fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when the page loads.
- Trailer. The trailer is a YouTube video in privacy-enhanced mode. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play; after that, Google’s privacy policy applies.
- Server logs. Like any website, our host records requests (IP address, page, browser and time) to keep the site running and secure. These logs are kept for a short time only.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as the game grows, for example when new online features arrive. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters, we will tell you in the game or by email before it takes effect.
